Home Inspections

Common questions

A visual assessment of a property by a trained professional of items including major mechanical and electrical systems. This is done according to industry standards. We provide a written explanation of the current condition of the property at the end of the inspection. This inspection is usually done after you have decided to purchase a house. A final contract is often contingent on the results of the inspection. In New Jersey, the contract is often signed before the inspection.

A typical inspection looks at a variety of items, including (but not necessarily limited to):

  • External Conditions & Surfaces
  • Roof, Attic, Insulation & Ventilation
  • Plumbing & Electrical Systems
  • Heating & Cooling Systems
  • Foundations, Slabs & Floors
  • Walls & Ceilings
  • Garage, Walls & Driveway
  • Appliances

Our inspections meet or exceed ASHI (http://www.ashi.org) standards. Most inspections take between two and four hours.

You must be present during the inspection process. This is also an opportunity to be shown the main water shut-off, electrical disconnect and other systems, and to ask questions about the mechanical workings of the house.
